Why does this stone glow under UV light? URANIUM!  (Yes, it's safe to handle 😉)

• Uranium is incorporated into agate as uranyl ions, which are bound to the silica surface. 
• The uranium is thought to come from the alteration of the surrounding host rocks during agate formation. 
• The amount of uranium in the agate determines how strongly it glows under UV light.
